Didn’t have a full house this weekend but still had a great weekend. Since we weren’t totally booked it allowed us to take in some of the great sights and things to do around Alton. Gary and I went to My Just Desserts in Alton for lunch on Saturday with our daughter and eight month old granddaughter. I can’t say enough nice things about My Just Desserts – great food, service and atmosphere. Would highly recommend adding a visit to My Just Desserts when you come to Elsah.
Had some wonderful guests, three couples that the wives have been friends since childhood. It always makes me smile when the Inn is filled with laughter and old friends making new memories. It was a great night to stay in and play card games with friends and enjoy the fireplace and some homemade goodies. I think the poached pears, zuchinni bread and farmer’s casserole were a hit for breakfast.
Since we didn’t have any guests checking in this afternoon, Gary and I did some exploring. We finally took time to visit the Audubon Center at the Riverlands. If you enjoy bird watching, I would definitely recommend a stop there. We want to take advantage of the hiking trails when the weather is nicer and time permits:) Today we saw a immature eagle, a pelican, lots of sea gulls and red winged blackbirds.
Then we took Hwy 94 over to St. Charles, MO. It was a beautiful drive and very interesting to see the bluffs on the River Road from across the river. Finished the day by getting supplies from Sam’s Club. Now to get the rooms cleaned and ready for the next wave of guests.
